More about Hair Transplants
Transplanting of hair is one of the most effective ways of dealing with baldness, predominantly for the male. Most of the time, the men in their fifties and sixties run out of options, with the realization of time running out and age catching up with them. The desire to continue having the young look plunge most of them in some sort of worry, since some of the occurrences like hair loss slowly start cropping in. The discovery of such aids as hair transplant techniques has made it possible to restore the young look that these people have always desired. Nevertheless, there are other options to this, for example propecia, which is a predominant example to this hair restoration treatment.
The Procedure
The procedure is usually a long one that will take a minimum of four hours and a maximum of around six hours. In this delicate affair, antibacterial chemicals are used for the treatment after which the hair is conveniently shampooed. Basically the procedure involves the harvest of hair, from what is conventionally termed as the donor area. A strip of hair from the scalp containing healthy density of hair is scooped out. The recent estimate is at 1.5 by 15cm of hair strip. Excess fatty tissues that can make it a disaster if transplanted is then carefully removed, making sure that the follicular cells are not harmed in the whole process. This strip is then gently arranged according to the density configuration, the hair line and the general assembly of the hair. The average hair density in a transplant includes 50 grafts per centimeter.
The convenience of surgery is that the follicular units are relieved from any damage that can be caused by any injuries in the dissection stage of the whole process. It also takes less time and if done to perfection the yielding results are just perfect. Sometimes if done very well, it would be impossible even for our own hair stylist to notice any change on your scalp.
Precautionary measures
One of the biggest decisions that the patient needs to make is whether or not he/she will go in for multiple surgery or a single one. Well this will conveniently depend on the amount of hair loss, and a host of other medically pre-established necessities. The patient is also cautioned against the consumption of alcoholic substances at this period.
Exposure to sunlight or shampoo immediately after the procedure is not allowed and will be disastrous to the healing process.
