Types of Hair Transplant Methods

In the world we live in today loss of hair is one of the primary concerns among millions around the world especially the men. Loss of hair is caused by various factors:

  • Aging
  • Trauma Burns
  • History of the family
  • Hormonal changes

Having the hair replaced through surgery is the best treatment there is for baldness. The process involves use of bald resistant areas and patching them to bald areas. To have a more natural look, transplant of a few hairs at a time is best.

Follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS)

Hair from the donor region is implanted to the bald area. With the use of sutures the donor area is closed and would take a few days to heal completely. With this procedure several grafts of hair can be transplanted at a time making it ideal for extreme baldness.

Follicular unit extraction

Hair in its natural growth usually grows in groups of four or just one strand. From the back of the head and sides, the hair is transplanted in these groups. The procedure does not involve deep cuts thus the healing process is shorter and one gets a more natural look. This procedure is more popular than FUSS.

Scalp reduction

This is a rear procedure and involves removing the bald area and replacing it with hair bearing scalp. In order to make this replacement, the hair bearing scalp is stretched. Scalp reduction is a very expensive procedure and due to the increased chances of tightening the scalp, it is less preferred as it could lead to the thinning of the scalp.

Before you undertake the procedure it is good to note that there are chances of complications as any other form of transplantation. Each case for transplantation is not the same and response to transplant will be different for each case. So always consult with a good transplant doctor to have a safe hair transplant with fewer complications.

Some of complications involved include:

  • Death of skin graft which means that you will need to have the procedure repeated
  • Bumps on the scalp

Let hair loss not be a constant headache for you. With a good consultation that problem can be a thing of the past. Remember hair from the sides and back of the head grows continually through out our lives. Use of the hair to replace the bold spots means that you are now sorted for life and loss becomes a thing of the past.
